
GCC Softball played a non conference double header on Wednesday the 12th against Lake Region and came away with two wins.
In game one, the Gauchos won 12-4 in 5 innings. Freshman Destiny Rubalcava stared in the circle for the Gauchos and earned her first win of the season. Destiny threw 4.1 innings striking out 4 and only allowing 5 hits. Freshman Shayla Munoz came in for the last two outs of the game and struck out both. Freshman Anjolina McNeace stood out at the plate by going 3 for 4, scoring twice with 4 RBIs. Sophomore Veronica Eddy and Freshman's Samantha Murray and Chloe Saiz both went 2 for 3 in game one. Sophomore's Marissa Quihuis and Grace Madril both had sacrifice hits scoring 2 RBIs each to solidify the Gauchos win.
In game two, the Gauchos won 7-6. Freshman Shayla Munoz entered the circle early for the Gauchos and came out with the win. Shayla threw 4 innings only giving up 1 hit while striking out 7 batters. freshman Priscilla Armendariz and Grace Madril both went 2 for 4 at the plate. Priscilla scoring once with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Veronica Eddy and Freshman Samantha Murray both went 2 for 3 at the plate both scoring twice. Veronica hit two back to back homeruns leading the Gauchos to success.
