  • Konrad Clark Breaks GCC School Record at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational
    February 11, 2025
The Glendale Community College track & field team had a very strong showing at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational hosted here at home in front of about 300 spectators. A new school record was set on Saturday, February 8th from (1st year) Sprinter Konrad Clark in the 300m race. He ran to a first place finish at the time of 33.51 seconds. The previous record was set by Dominic Brister last year (2024) with a time of 33.83 seconds. The 300m is not a NJCAA National event but it is definitely a confidence and character building event. The Gaucho’s were very competitive all over stadium. Many of our men and women posted season and personal best performances. Some punching their ticket for Indoor Nationals, while others are centimeters or milliseconds off from getting their tickets punched. On the Women’s side (2nd year) Pole Vaulter Lauren Allard qualified for NJCAA Nationals with a clearance of 3.05m (10.00ft). (2nd year) Multi’s and Jumps sensation Kaelyn Giarrusso improved on her already NJCAA National qualifying High Jump clearance of 1.63m (5-04.25ft)with a first place finish. Oyindamola Adetutu also captured a first place victory in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.79m (35-04.75ft). On the track side several women ran to personal best like (2year) sprinter Lailah Campbell and Aliyah Perkins. On the men's side, (1st year) sprinter Konrad Clark qualified for NJCAA Indoor Nationals in his second individual event with a first place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 21.33 seconds. This moves Clark up to #2 All Time in this indoor event. He along with (1st year) Kevin Seales, (2nd year) Kyler McQueen, (1st yr) Roman Zamarron and Connor Sanchez all established new personal best times running under 23 seconds. The throws were consistent. Improvements by (2nd year) Seth Clement in the Shot Put with a personal best throwing distance of 13.56m (44-06.00ft) placing him 3rd behind (1st year) Emmanuel Hernandez 14.75m (48-04.75ft) who took 2nd place in the event. Where both (1st year) Pole Vaulter Cloud Writer and Thrower Noah Brezina are both getting closer to that National Indoor Qualification mark in their respective events with Personal Best marks. Home was definitely where the heart was this weekend! Thank you GCC for all the help and support you provided over this past weekend to make for an amazing meet! Our Gauchos will “Ride On” to Pima this weekend for the Pima Indoor Invitational on Saturday (2/15) and the Multi event competition on Friday (2/14).
