
Glendale Community College athletics celebrated the accomplishments of the department at the 2025 end of year athletic banquet this past Thursday.
"I am absolutely thrilled with the overall success of the department this school year," said Director of Athletics Peter Oliszczak. "I'm very proud of all the things our student-athletes have accomplished through competition, in the classroom, and out in our campus community."
This year, Glendale Community College athletics had 147 student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA, and 45 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA. 10 different sport programs had a team GPA over a 3.0 and the entire athletic department averaged a 3.05 GPA.
Lauren Allard and Davis Hester were named the men's and women's scholar-athletes of the year.
Lauren Allard is a second year track and field student-athlete who has taken the lead in all things academic and athletic here at Glendale Community College. In 3 semesters, Lauren has earned 69 credit hours while maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She is a presidential scholar, member of Phi Theta Kappa, and was an Academic All-American in 2024. Lauren is pursuing her AA in Exercise Science. She is 3rd all time for indoor pole vault for GCC Track and Field, she was a national qualifier in both 2024 and 2025 for the NJCAA Indoor Championships. She is currently the 4th ranked individual in NJCAA D1 Outdoor events. Lauren is also a 2-time NJCAA D1 National Outdoor qualifier. Her favorite quote comes from the music group My Chemical Romance which says, "One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure it's worth watching."
Davis Hester is a second year men's basketball student-athlete who has accomplished a tremendous amount of feats in his 4 semesters. Davis is a presidential scholar, currently holding a 3.9 GPA and will graduate with his AA degree in Psychology this May. Davis also served as one of the representatives for men's basketball on the Student Advisory Athletic Council this year. He has done numerous community service events throughout his time at GCC, volunteering with St. Mary's food bank, Club United at Christ Church of the Valley, and for the Special Education Games here in the west valley. Davis was a second team All-Region selection this year. His 15.6 points per game was 10th best in the league, and his 81 3-point field goals made was the 4th most in the ACCAC this season. In two years at GCC Davis scored 738 points, which ranks second most by any Gauchos in the past 6 seasons, and his 135 made 3-point field goals for his career are the most by anyone during that time-frame.
